Environmental Tectonics Corporation Awarded Contract to Develop ADMS Simulator for Pinnelas Park High School’s First Responders program

Environmental Tectonics Corporation's (ETC) Simulation Division recently announced the signing of a contract with Pinellas County School Board to create Incident Command training simulators for Pinellas Park High School to augment their new program called First Responders: National Guard Center for Emergency Management.

Pinellas Park High School's new program is slated to begin in August of 2009 with about 125 ninth graders.  This four year program is intended to give high school students an introduction to the fields of emergency planning and first response to disasters and emergency incidents.  Their mission statement is as follows:  "The mission of the FIRST RESPONDERS program is to ready students for entry into postsecondary educations and/or employment opportunities as FIRST RESPONDERS through a comprehensive program that trains individuals for planning and initial response to emergency and disaster situations." This program is being made possible through a grant provided by the National Guard.

The portable ADMS COMMAND training systems will allow students to train on scenarios that are similar to incidents they might face as first responders.  In addition, ADMS allows the students to be exposed to situations that cannot be realistically or economically replicated in conventional training, and because it's simulation, they can safely learn in an immersive environment any time, as the curriculum dictates. For the students at Pinellas Park High School, ADMS will help to bring their learning to a whole new level by successfully bridging the gap between classroom instruction and live training.

ETC's Simulation Division President, Marco van Wijngaarden remarked, "We are proud to work with Pinellas Park High School and are excited that our system will be used to help expose young people to the world of emergency response. It is our hope that ADMS will help develop their interest in the field and prepare them for further training and education to become America's next generation of first responders."

ADMS is an interactive team training simulation platform that offers a proven methodology to provide results-based and cost-effective training. Since 1995, ADMS has been used to train emergency responders around the world, and used to test emergency response plans.
