New topic-packed Web site for firefighters launched
A new and ambitious Web site developed for officers and firefighters by a 40-year member of the fire service has been launched with a stated intention to be the most comprehensive, one-stop training and informational resource for fire departments in the U.S. and worldwide. "The Fire Services Resources Network," found at www.fsrn.us will offer a constantly updated library of downloadable materials including firefighter safety lessons, training information, in-depth looks at recruitment as well as fire prevention topics among a wide spectrum of subject matter free for use. Safety alerts, guest articles and recommended reading for firefighters will be among other features.
Michael Chiaramonte, creator and coordinator for the new Web site, brings to his new endeavor a long and extensive association with firefighting along with instructional pursuits. He is Former Chief of the Lynbrook Volunteer Fire Department on Long Island, NY and retired Chief Fire Inspector of that department -- a post held for 27 years. He is also Past President of the Eastern Division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Past Chairman and Past Board Member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs Volunteer and Combination Officers Section. A retired High School teacher of English and public speaking with degrees in Education from Hofstra University and the University of Houston, Chiaramonte has been both a Fire Science and National Fire Academy instructor, a speaker at major national and international conferences and a frequent contributor to major fire service magazines.
“Basic to the beliefs of every firefighter, is a fiercely held determination to help,” said Chiaramonte. “Whether it is directed at saving lives or property, it is as instinctive as breathing. Universal, too, is the desire to assist our firefighting brethren, whether they are in action, or in preparedness that contributes to their well being and the well being of others. We feel certain that our new Web site will help provide that special knowledge to a great extent, and welcome its use.”
