KME introduces new airport rescue & firefighting vehicles
KME Fire Apparatus has introduced two new and innovative apparatus specifically designed for the unique needs of the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) market: the KP1500, a 1,500-gallon, 4-x-4 vehicle; and the KP3000 a 3,000-gallon, 6-x-6 vehicle. These state-of-the art apparatus include a high strength and self-contained, vacuum-injected, glass-reinforced polyester (GRP) cab, tank and body. These are 100 percent corrosion free and provide superior strength and durability. The KME chassis is specifically designed for severe off-pavement service.
Features include a 700-hp engine, a 2,000-gpm pump, coil-spring over rigid axle suspension, a low center of gravity and high under-axle clearance. The units are lightweight, making the KME KP1500 and KP3000 two of the most maneuverable ARFF apparatus in the industry.
The KP1500 Class 4 apparatus and the KP3000 Class 5 apparatus are exciting new products within KME’s extensive Airport Product Group offering, which also includes Airport Rapid Intervention Vehicles in Class 1, 2 and 3 configurations. In addition, the KME ARFF chassis is comprised of readily available commercial components that allow for ease of service and simple access to parts.
As with all KME products, these new apparatus will be subjected to rigorous testing to meet all current requirements of the FAA advisory circular 150-5220-10D and NFPA 414, 2007 edition.
KME has committed substantial resources and personnel to the development and introduction of these new products and will be attending numerous exhibitions and conferences throughout the year, including the ARFF Chiefs and Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla.; the 31st Annual Airport Conference in Hershey, Pa.; and the ARFF Working Group Annual Conference, Las Vegas.
Initial ARFF orders are currently in production and KME has accepted additional orders to be built in 2008. For more information, go to www.kovatch.com or contact Dave Krajnak at 800/235-3928, x 5581, or dkrajnak@kovatch.com.
